(Press Release = May 31, 2022 / Tue) Hospitality tech company ONDA (CEO Oh Hyun-seok) announced on the 31st that it has been selected for the 'Baby Unicorn 200 Nurturing Program' under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'K-Unicorn Project.'
The 'Baby Unicorn 200' is a government initiative that helps promising startups and venture companies grow into unicorns.
The program identifies startups under seven years old with validated innovative business models and growth potential, with the goal of nurturing them into unicorn companies valued at over KRW 1 trillion.
ONDA, selected for this year's 'Baby Unicorn 200,' is driving digital transformation in the hotel and hospitality industry through its IT tech solutions. The company has developed and provides an all-in-one integrated solution that bundles essential functions — sales, operations, revenue management, and more — that hotels, guesthouses, and resorts need to run their properties.
ONDA earned high marks for continuously developing online service technologies that partners genuinely need, helping hotels and other partners adapt to the rapid pace of digital transformation. The company also proved both its growth and innovation by achieving KRW 100 billion in transaction volume in 2021 through Korea's largest hospitality sales network (GDS).
ONDA is currently Korea's first partner of 'Google Hotels,' the accommodation search and booking service powered by Google, the world's largest search engine. The company is pioneering new domestic and international hotel markets by leveraging D2C (Direct to Customer) sales channels that connect hotels and accommodation owners directly with guests.
ONDA CEO Oh Hyun-seok said, "We're grateful to the government and all stakeholders who selected ONDA for the Baby Unicorn program," adding, "Since this policy is funded by the hard-earned taxes of our citizens, we will certainly achieve our goals and repay this support by strengthening win-win collaboration both within and outside the industry."
In 2021, ONDA formed partnership agreements with the world's leading tech platforms — including Airbnb and Google Hotels — thanks to its outstanding technology, business viability, and growth potential. This year, the company became Korea's first two-time consecutive 'Airbnb Preferred Partner' and was selected for the 'Asia-Pacific High-Growth Companies 2022' list announced by the Financial Times and global research firm Statista.
