(Press Release—August 10, 2023) ONDA, a hospitality tech startup, continues its steep growth trajectory with Hotel Plus, its hotel distribution solution, posting strong Q2 2023 results and expanding its footprint in the hotel market.
ONDA announced today that Hotel Plus transaction volume grew approximately 1,800% in Q2 2023 compared to the same period last year. Since launching its hotel digital transformation business in H2 2021, the company has maintained explosive quarter-over-quarter growth.
ONDA attributes the surge to intensified hotel labor shortages during the pandemic and a sharp rise in online sales share, which drove demand for operational efficiency and room distribution solutions.
Hotel Plus is a solution that connects hotels in real-time with over 40 domestic and international online distribution channels, enabling efficient room sales and operations. A key advantage: hotels can sell inventory not just through traditional channels like OTAs and e-commerce platforms, but also through major consumer platforms and closed corporate/welfare malls. All channel inventory and rates sync automatically, significantly reducing workload for hotel reservation teams.
ONDA has continuously expanded new channels to boost hotel room sales and revenue. In February, the company began supplying accommodation products to The K Mall, a welfare portal serving 890,000 members of the Korea Teachers Credit Union.
Integration with KakaoTalk Booking was completed earlier this year, helping hotels drive sales through effective exposure on Kakao Map and targeted promotions.
Recently, Hotel Plus integrated with Socar, an emerging lodging distribution channel that lets users book car-sharing and accommodation in one go. In July, the company started selling family-friendly accommodations through Kids Note, which has resonated strongly with parents using the platform.
Hotel Plus also connects with D2C (Direct to Customer) channels like Google Hotels, allowing hotels to sell rooms at lower commission rates. Hotels can participate in government lodging support programs and channel-specific campaigns, create custom packages, and run individual promotions.
ONDA Hotel Plus is gearing up for a major update in H2. To support real revenue growth for hotels, the company plans to significantly strengthen its domestic accommodation rate monitoring and revenue management capabilities.
"Hotel Plus isn't about the race-to-the-bottom pricing competition you see on metasearch sites," said Lee Jung-ki, Head of Hotel Business at ONDA. "We're contributing to hotel revenue growth through ONDA's unique channels and promotions. We'll continue differentiating our solution by refining our booking engine services and securing competitive channels."
ONDA is a hospitality tech and data company covering approximately 60–70% of Korea's online room transaction market. The company has built strong partnerships with global big tech firms, including being Airbnb's first Premium Partner in Korea and Google Hotels' first domestic partner.
ONDA is also emerging as a leader in the global hotel tech market—it became the first Korean company to rank on Skift's Global PMS Vendor list at #34. The company was selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Baby Unicorn program last year and Baby Unicorn Plus in 2023, and has been named to the Financial Times' High-Growth Companies Asia-Pacific list two years running (2022–2023).
