# Korea's First Travel Industry Ecosystem Map — 2022 Edition

ONDA — the B2B hospitality platform digitizing Korea's accommodation industry — just released Korea's first **2022 Korea Travel Landscape Map**.

### What is the Korea Travel Landscape Map?

The Korea Travel Landscape Map is a comprehensive overview of the Korean travel industry — all the companies (domestic and international) building, operating, and advancing travel in Korea, in one place.

It breaks the ecosystem into **23 categories** covering **295 brands**: △travel planning platforms △search portals △metasearch engines △domestic & international OTAs △vacation rental platforms △commerce △travel agencies △hotel tech solutions △tours & activities △domestic & international hotel chains △domestic & international airlines △ground transport △travel & hospitality media.

### What to watch for in the map

Beyond the usual suspects (search, airlines, hotels, transport), the map captures Korea's digital-first travel players — OTAs, commerce platforms, metasearch engines — that have emerged as the industry digitizes. You'll also find hospitality tech companies driving hotel digitization and travel/hospitality media outlets that amplify the industry.

One trend worth noting: the rise of **D2C (Direct to Customer)** companies cutting out channel commissions and maximizing their own revenue. Case in point: **Google Hotels**, the search giant's accommodation booking service powered by Google's massive data infrastructure. ONDA became one of Google Hotels' first Korean partners in July 2021, connecting partner properties directly to travelers searching on Google.
