04. How to Make the Most of The Weekend Resort's Pet-Friendly Package in Incheon

With COVID making international travel difficult, domestic getaways and local accommodations are having a moment. MBC's new variety show 'Save Me! Accommodation' reflects this trend by spotlighting unique Korean stays. Among them, one pet-friendly resort caught my attention.

I visited The Weekend Resort, located in Yeongjong Island, Incheon. I'd heard about it since its opening last year but only recently learned it welcomes dogs. Perfect for older dogs who can't handle long road trips, I thought. Close to Seoul, it's ideal for a weekend 1-night, 2-day escape.

Pet Amenities: The Essentials Dogs Actually Need

At check-in, I browsed the resort merchandise in the lobby. The poop bags stood out. Not only was I surprised by the dog-friendly resort itself — I was impressed by amenities I'd never imagined a property would offer. These bags are exactly what you need when traveling with a dog, and their presence showed real thought behind the preparation.

We stayed in the "Incheon Ocean Bark Package" — one night in a Terrace Suite plus picnic set included. Walking into the room, a welcome gift greeted us. It might seem unusual, but they'd stocked everything: dog food, pee pads, dog towels — a full set of pet amenities, more than enough for a one-night stay.

Both dogs and humans could truly enjoy the resort itself.

Pet-Friendly Rooms: Details That Show They Care

The Weekend Resort offers two room types. The Terrace Suite we booked is a standalone unit — perfect for traveling with a dog. One minor inconvenience: there's no elevator from the lobby to the room, only stairs, so you'll need to haul your luggage up.

The suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one living room. Next to the sofa, they'd placed dog stairs — clearly thinking about joint health for dogs jumping on and off furniture. The floors aren't marble, so dogs don't slip when walking around — a detail I loved. Water and food bowls were also provided, making the entire stay comfortable.

On the terrace outside the Terrace Suite, we spotted some local cats. They were shy around people but sat patiently in the flower beds, waiting for food.

The Weekend Resort truly lives up to the term "pet-friendly."

Pet Park Picnic: The To-Go Box Experience

You can reserve the picnic to-go box at check-in. Pick it up at the lobby café, then head to the rooftop Pet Park or take a short walk to Eulwang-ri Beach on the West Sea. If the weather turns, you can always have your picnic in the room — another unique memory.

The resort's Pet Park is a small dog playground with artificial turf and agility equipment. Wooden decks dot the space — perfect for enjoying your picnic box. Sandwiches and drinks are included, enough for a full meal.

True to its pet-friendly reputation, the resort offers services and facilities where you can enjoy time with your dog inside the property, not just outside. That made the entire stay feel relaxed.

A Private Walking Trail, Too

Behind The Weekend Resort, there's a walking trail. It's private — only for resort guests — and perfect for a stroll with your dog. The path winds into the woods for some quiet time in nature, and the view of the West Sea, famous for its sunsets, was stunning.

From pet amenities to picnic sets at the Pet Park to dog-friendly walking trails. If you're looking for a pet-friendly getaway near Seoul, this place is worth the trip.
