TL;DR

When building a pension website, a few key decisions make the difference between a homepage that converts and one that doesn't. Here's what we learned from ONDA data and real Pension Plus projects.

When building a pension website, a few key decisions make the difference between a homepage that converts and one that doesn't.

Here's what we learned from ONDA data and real Pension Plus projects.

Keep the page structure simple

Design intuitive navigation so guests can find what they need without thinking. The essentials: Home, Rooms, Amenities, Reservations. Add more pages only if you have distinct facilities worth highlighting.

Don't overcomplicate it.

Great photos (and where you put them)

Photos carry 80% of the weight on a pension homepage. Maybe more.

Invest in professional photography. The hero image on your homepage shows up everywhere — booking channels, search results, social shares. It matters.

Your homepage gets the most traffic. Put your best shots there.

Smartphone cameras have gotten better, but they can't match professional photographers on composition, lighting, and post-production. The color grading alone is worth the cost.

Skip the phone. Hire a pro.

Make booking dead simple

Your homepage exists to generate reservations. Every page should have a clear path to the booking engine — multiple buttons if needed.

Put a reservation button everywhere.

Mobile comes first

Most visitors hit your site from a phone. Test everything on mobile — layout, images, load times.

Check font sizes especially. What looks fine on desktop often turns illegible on a 5-inch screen.

SEO isn't optional

A beautiful site with no traffic is a waste. You need to know who's visiting, where they came from, and what they did.

Set up basic SEO and Google Analytics from day one. You can't improve what you don't measure.
