### **Easy Social Media Marketing for Accommodations (4): Naver Cafe**

Hello, Magazine ON subscribers and hospitality professionals! I'm Somora, Marketing Manager at ONDA. The heatwave is already here—how are you coping? I'm sure you're busy welcoming guests as we transition from pre-peak to peak season this July, with the rain pouring and all.

Today, we're exploring another channel for easy accommodation social media marketing. The fourth platform I'll introduce is **Naver Cafe**.

### **What Is Naver Cafe?**

**Naver Cafe** launched in July 2003 as one of Naver's community services. Today, it's Korea's largest and most influential online cafe platform. When you create a Naver Cafe, you organize it by topic and region—your category choice defines your cafe's identity. For accommodations, you could categorize under travel, the hospitality industry itself, or the region where you're located. To date, nearly **10 million Naver Cafes** have been created—proof of how diverse and active the ecosystem is.

Naver Cafe homepage

When Naver Cafe first appeared, Daum Cafe dominated. Naver was seen as the underdog. But Naver quickly leveraged superior technology and search capabilities to pull ahead. The reason? Two critical features: **top search ranking** and **powerful search functionality**.

Daum Cafe struggled with search—whether due to tech limitations or neglect, posts rarely surfaced in searches. Naver, on the other hand, made every piece of cafe content searchable and discoverable from day one. Users flocked to Naver.

This aligns perfectly with why we do marketing: **to surface our content at the top of search results**. Naver Cafe became a powerhouse marketing channel. While newer social platforms have pulled attention away, Naver Cafe still carries significant weight in search visibility—and many properties still run highly effective marketing through it.

### **Who Should Use Naver Cafe Marketing?**

With so many platforms flooding the market, you might wonder: **Do I really need Naver Cafe?** Many operators focus on Facebook and Instagram when they think "SNS marketing"—or just run a Naver Blog.

We're not saying Naver Cafe should be your #1 channel. Its popularity has declined, and other platforms may deliver faster results. But for the right operator, it's incredibly effective. Let's identify **who Naver Cafe suits best**.

If the following profiles fit you—and you can commit **6+ months** to building a cafe—give it a shot.

**1) No website**

If you don't have a property website, you likely use a blog-style homepage, Naver Modoo, or a Naver Cafe. Among these, **Naver Cafe works great as a website substitute**—you can organize information clearly via boards. More on this in the tips section.

**2) 5+ room types**

If you have many identical rooms, explanation is easy. But if you have fewer rooms with many different types—or lots of rooms with 5+ configurations—you need a better way to showcase them. Cafe boards handle this well.

**3) Already running Instagram or Facebook**

If you're already seeing results from another channel, Naver Cafe is a smart addition. **Cafe marketing takes time to show ROI**, so having a proven channel gives you breathing room while you build.

**4) 6+ months of SNS experience (including Naver Blog)**

If you've successfully run a channel for six months, you'll have the discipline and know-how to make Naver Cafe work too.

**5) 3–4 hours per week available**

Naver Cafe requires **upfront setup, ongoing operation, member management, and content production**. Early on, you'll invest heavily. After that, expect 20–30 minutes daily for member moderation, post management, comments, and feature tweaks.

Once you've confirmed you fit the profile, weigh the pros and cons before committing to Naver Cafe.

### **Why You Should Consider Naver Cafe Marketing**

Before we dive into pros and cons, let's clarify: **why should your property use Naver Cafe?** Again—it's not essential. But for operators who meet the criteria, it's a powerful tool.

Newer platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube sparked a mass migration. Their defining trait? **Network-based distribution.** Your content only reaches people who follow you. Unless you're a celebrity, your Instagram and Facebook networks are mostly people you know. They care about their friends' updates—not random brands (unless your content is exceptionally useful, entertaining, or inspiring).

As a result, these platforms prioritize individual creators over businesses. Promoting a business becomes harder. Examples: accounts on Kakao, Facebook, Instagram, even YouTube—including major channels—get suspended, deleted, or shadowbanned without explanation. Even Naver Blogs get hit with "low-quality" penalties that tank search rankings. **Naver Cafe doesn't have this problem.** Why?

Because Naver Cafe launched alongside search functionality. The **content users post in cafes drives search traffic**—Naver's core revenue engine. Shutting down cafes would kill that traffic. So instead, Naver continuously upgrades cafe features—chat, pinned posts, mobile search enhancements, app updates—all to help cafe operators thrive. Check the official Naver Cafe Team updates every month: the platform keeps improving.

### **Benefits of Naver Cafe Marketing (+ Practical Tips)**

So what are the advantages of using Naver Cafe for accommodation marketing? Here they are—with tips.

**1) Top Naver search ranking**

Cafe posts appear in **Naver integrated search results**, just like blog posts. If your cafe has high search relevance, your content climbs the rankings. Anyone—member or not—can see your posts if you set them to public. If creating fresh content feels daunting, simply **scrape your blog posts into your cafe**. It counts as content.

**2) Acts as a website replacement**

Naver Cafe can function as your property homepage. Naver Modoo and Naver Blog are either too simple or too complex for real operation. Cafe strikes the right balance. Create boards for: property overview, room introductions, check-in/out policies, reviews, Q&A—**all the menus a typical hotel website has**.

**3) Two-way community engagement**

Unlike one-way channels, Naver Cafe is a **true two-way community**. Members join, post, comment, and interact. This builds trust and reduces your workload—**even your Q&A responses become content**. Instead of creating everything yourself, leverage your community to generate content.

**4) Bulk messaging**

Naver Cafe lets you send **mass emails and messages** to members. This is direct, targeted marketing to people already interested in your property. Announce promotions, updates, events—straight to your audience.

While Naver Cafe has many benefits, the downside is clear: **building a community takes time and effort**. You need members for posts, engagement, and promotion to happen.

That's why I recommend having another marketing channel first—you can promote your cafe there to jumpstart membership. Repurpose existing content, post consistently, and grow your member base steadily.

### **More Ways to Use Naver Cafe**

Beyond the tips above, here are additional strategies worth knowing.

**1) Write detailed property and room descriptions**

The **property overview** and **room introduction boards** are your most important content. Visitors care about these most. On blogs, you'd list everything in one post—hard to scan. On Cafe, each room type gets its own post, visible as a clean list on the board and main page.

Write thoroughly. Include photos (living area, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom), amenities, room size, capacity, and pricing. **Link directly to your real-time booking page**—make conversion seamless.

**2) Build a customer Q&A board**

Create a **Q&A board and consistently answer questions**. Guests have tons of questions before booking—but most properties handle these privately or don't surface the info. A public Q&A board solves this: future guests can see past answers, and new questions get answered quickly. It's transparent and efficient.

**3) Manage a reviews board**

Create a **reviews board** and actively collect guest feedback. Not every guest has their own blog or Instagram—but everyone has a Naver account. Run a review event to gather testimonials. Aggregating reviews in one place builds trust and boosts conversion.

Also: **pull reviews from other platforms and centralize them in your cafe**. It's easier for prospective guests to read everything in one place than to hunt across channels.

**4) Embed your real-time booking widget**

In every property-related post, in banners, and on your cafe homepage, **link to your real-time booking engine** or booking method. Make it frictionless for visitors to check availability and book instantly. If you use ONDA's **free real-time booking widget**, you can embed it directly in Naver Cafe. We even provide a setup guide—check it out if you're interested!

**5) Use post links as customer service tools**

Once you've built out your boards with detailed posts, save the links. When guests ask repeat questions via message or phone, **send them the relevant cafe post link** instead of typing the same answer over and over. It's efficient and professional.

Naver Cafe also offers a mobile app

And that's how you **market your accommodation with Naver Cafe**. How does it feel? It's not the most efficient channel for everyone—but for the right operator, it delivers real results. Give it a try if it fits your profile.

Next time, we'll cover **Naver Modoo**, Naver's mobile homepage builder.

Stay cool in the heat. Thanks for reading.
