Simple SNS Marketing for Properties (6): Naver Blog
Hello, Magazine ON subscribers! I'm Somora, ONDA's marketing manager. The weather's turned crisp — autumn's slipping away and winter's closing in. Single-digit temps finally pushed me to pack up summer clothes and dig out my heavy coat. For the hospitality industry, this signals the approach of the winter off-season. Last month I took a break from this series for personal reasons — sorry for the wait! To make up for it, I'm back this October with even more valuable insights.
As many of you prepare your off-season strategies, today's SNS channel is the big one — the platform marketers can't do without: Naver Blog. You've been waiting for this. Let's dive in!
What is Naver Blog?
Naver Blog is the blogging service run by Naver. Launched in 2003, it's been around for over 16 years and dominates Korea's blog landscape. Think of it as a content-creation platform where people share information and document their daily lives. Since Naver is Korea's #1 search portal — and blog content ranks at the top of Naver search results — its influence is enormous. Naver turned 20 this year. Over 30 million people visit Naver on mobile every single day. Feel the scale yet?
According to official 2016 data from the Naver Blog team, around 23 million blogs had been created. Fast-forward three years and factor in annual growth — we're looking at roughly 28–30 million blogs today. Staggering.
Pros and cons of Naver Blog marketing
Naver Blog is so ubiquitous that roughly half the country uses it — no exaggeration. It easily beats competitors like Daum Tistory. But the platform also creates headaches. So what are the pros and cons of using Naver Blog for property marketing?
The biggest advantage: guaranteed top ranking in portal search results. Posts published on Naver Blog almost always appear at the top when users search keywords on Naver's main page. Even on other portals — Daum, Google — Naver Blog posts consistently rank high. That's serious reach. People complain that blogs are full of ads, and they know most posts are ads — yet they still instinctively search blog reviews first when researching properties. Why can't we ditch Naver Blog? Familiarity.
Second advantage: Naver Blog can replace a website. Ever heard of "homepage-style blogs"? Marketing agencies coined this term years ago. A homepage-style blog is designed to function like a website — click buttons to navigate between pages, just like a real site.
ONDA uses this approach for our blog. You get a free homepage without paying expensive hosting fees. Sure, you could use Naver Modoo! or Naver Cafe (covered earlier in this series) — but blogs offer superior content flexibility. Naver Blog's editor tools let you create beautiful, thoughtfully designed room showcases and property intros. Plus you have full control over the main page — customization settings, skins, layouts, design — total freedom.

The downside: you need serious time investment and consistency. With over 20 million blogs, constant ad churn, and information overload, getting your blog and your content to rank is brutally hard. Account age matters. Post frequency matters. Content quality and length matter. Everything matters.
If you can't commit to posting at least 2–3 times per week, Naver flags your blog as inactive — and you'll never crack the top rankings. A decent piece of content takes me 2–3 hours minimum (sometimes 5 for really good stuff). Beginners will take even longer. You need to maintain this pace for at least a year before your visibility truly improves.
Meanwhile, you're juggling cleaning, guest check-ins, reservations — you're drowning in work already. So let me be blunt upfront: if you can't post at least 3 times a week for at least 6 months — consistently and diligently — don't bother starting. You'll waste time, energy, and effort. Spend that money on other SNS channels or paid ads instead. (And if you're thinking of hiring an agency? I'll politely discourage you. Use that budget for Naver search ads. Blog agencies often resort to spammy tactics.)
Still here? Great. If you're committed to Naver Blog marketing — or curious about running blog review campaigns — keep reading!
How to do Naver Blog marketing well
ONDA's former marketing team published Naver Blog tips in Magazine ZARI (now Magazine ON) back in June 2017, so I've tried to avoid repeating old content. Instead, this piece emphasizes what's still critical, updates what's changed, and goes deep on how to succeed with Naver Blog marketing. If you want the earlier tips, check out Magazine ON June 2017.
1) Titles: Insert keywords. Keep them short.
Why are you running a blog? Sure, some people share daily life or personal journals — but if you're reading this, you're likely promoting your property or business. Your ultimate goal: rank high when people search relevant keywords. To rank high, the most critical element is your post title. You must include your core keyword in the title. Why?
Blogs use algorithms that match user search queries to relevant content. For example, search "Gapyeong resort" on Naver, and Naver surfaces blog posts with "Gapyeong resort" in the title (plus the body text, of course). In the screenshot below, ONDA's blog ranks #1 — notice "Gapyeong resort" appears right in the title, and also throughout the body. The search algorithm identifies posts that precisely match user intent and ranks them accordingly.
Pro tip: Repeat your title keyword throughout the body! For a 5,000-character post, repeating the keyword 12–16 times tends to improve ranking. (Not a hard rule — adjust based on your content length. And don't overdo it or you'll trigger spam filters. Write substantive content!)
Second rule: minimize title character count. Mobile search dominates these days. Long titles get cut off on small screens. Plus people don't read long titles anyway. Keep titles to roughly 26 characters or less (measured in the PC editor — fits on one line). Look at the search results screenshot — none of the top-ranking titles are truncated. Short titles are essential. Core keyword + under 26 characters — follow this rule!

Blog post titles: must include core keyword, under 26 characters.
2) Make it look good and read easy. Think mobile.
As mentioned in our previous blog marketing piece, posts should be visually appealing and easy to read. But there's one more critical consideration: mobile view. Most people write blog posts on a computer. But most people read blogs on their smartphones. So your PC-written post gets consumed on a mobile screen.

ONDA Naver Blog September visitor device distribution
As I mentioned earlier, Naver sees roughly 30 million mobile visitors daily. ONDA's blog stats show about 80% of visitors come from mobile. And the more people rely on mobile, the more they prioritize visual elements — they want to scan key info quickly and move on. So all our content must be PC-friendly and mobile-friendly. This is called mobile optimization for blog posts. Naver Blog already supports features for this.
When publishing on Naver Blog, you use the "Smart Editor 3.0" editor. The editor defaults to PC view. But click the monitor icon in the bottom-right corner, and you can toggle between PC – Mobile – Tablet views. Use this to preview how your post looks on mobile while you write! ONDA always switches to mobile view and writes with mobile readability in mind.

One caveat: even in mobile editor view, different phone models may wrap lines differently. So when writing mobile-optimized content, leave generous left/right margins and ensure sentence flow isn't choppy.
Finally, when adding images, stitching multiple photos together may look clean on PC — but on mobile, merged images appear tiny and cramped. For important images, resize and attach them individually rather than stitching.

3) Run your own blogger review campaigns
This tip isn't strictly about running your own blog — but it's something property owners should definitely know. When I interview property operators, many tell me they're investing in marketing: Naver search ads, various SNS channels — spending money and time, either DIY or through agencies. The most wasteful expense I see? Paying agencies to run blogger review campaigns. Did you know you can easily run these campaigns yourself?
Running your own blogger campaigns is simpler than you think. Contact bloggers directly, offer them a stay, and request a post. Here's how: ① Search Naver for keywords related to your location and property type — "XX pension," "guesthouse recommendations," etc. Top-ranking blogs appear. These blogs already rank well for hospitality keywords. (More on how this works below.) Check if the blogger seems like they'd visit your property and write a quality post. ② Click their ID to go to their blog profile page. ③ Find the small "Message" button below the profile. ④ Draft your campaign offer (weekday stay, what you'll provide, property website, contact info — see my example screenshot) and send the message to the blogger. Scroll through the first 5 pages of search results and send messages to multiple bloggers — you'll get replies.
Naver lets you send up to 50 messages per day, so create a standard template, copy-paste, and send to top-ranking bloggers within the first 5 pages. If you select a blogger, ask for their planned posting date before they check in.
Set a clear deadline — usually within 2 weeks of checkout — and clarify penalties for missing it. Track everything in Excel or Google Sheets. I've included a sample screenshot — use it to build your own tracking sheet.

When contacting bloggers, provide posting guidelines — required keywords, hashtags, links — this helps with SEO. Request post/SNS links in advance so you can track them. Create guideline templates (text or image) and copy-paste them into messages for efficiency! See? Not so hard. A little effort, zero budget, and you can run your own review campaigns. Don't forget!
If this approach feels too complicated, you could also ask guests who check out to leave a review in exchange for a small gift or gift card.
4) Master blog ranking — word count, video, images, quality content, consistent themes
Our previous blog marketing piece recommended posting content guests would care about — property daily life, nearby attractions, restaurants. That advice is all about getting your blog to rank higher. To understand how, you need to know how blog search ranking works. ONDA has consistently published content related to properties and hospitality, so Naver's blog policies and search algorithms recognize our expertise — we dominate keyword searches in this space. Let me explain exactly how to get your blog content to rank higher on Naver search.
Naver search constantly refines its ranking algorithm to surface blogs that satisfy search users. Naver's official guidance on "evaluation criteria for blogs users prefer/avoid and search ranking criteria" breaks down into three pillars: <Context>, <Content>, <Consumption & Production Chain>.

In other words: Does the blog consistently post on a specific theme? What's the content quality? How is the content consumed and produced? Combine these three criteria and the blog (author) builds source credibility and popularity — which boosts its search index and ranking probability.
For example, ONDA focuses on delivering expert knowledge in the hospitality industry — we publish heavily on domestic travel/accommodation, IT tech, and tourism. Each post is at least 500–1,000 characters, includes 15+ images, and presents unique, non-duplicate content — we invest serious time and care. By Naver's C-Rank algorithm standards, this counts as high-quality content, which raises our search ranking. Plus our content matches user intent and keywords, so view counts stay consistently high.
If content is valuable, visitors spend more time on the blog — which signals quality to the algorithm. So when ONDA publishes content on these topics, our blog is already trusted — which means new posts automatically rank high.
Also, Naver search now favors embedded video. And posts with specialized expertise on specific topics (property operations, management, etc.) tend to outrank generic content. Quality over quantity — don't forget! For deeper detail on search algorithms, check Naver Search's official blog post (https://blog.naver.com/naver_search/220774795442) and decide what concept to consistently pursue for your blog.
5) Don't fall for blog myths
Countless rumors swirl around so-called "low-quality" blogs or blogs flagged as "search-excluded." Marketers and bloggers have bent over backwards to avoid getting hit with these penalties. Some advice is worth following — but a lot is baseless nonsense. I've wasted plenty of time on pointless "grunt work" posts myself.
Here's the truth — and Naver Search's official position: "There's no such thing as an 'optimized blog' or a 'low-quality blog.'" Instead, Naver uses daily-updated C-Rank (search ranking algorithm: calculates source credibility), spam filters, and numerous factors combined in complex, multifaceted systems. Translation: if you check the boxes these systems favor, you'll rank higher. And I already outlined those favored factors in section 4.

So for other property owners running blogs — to save you from my mistakes — read Naver Search's official clarification post (https://blog.naver.com/naver_search/220760111725). You'll find plenty of myths I wrongly believed — like "never copy-paste" or "spend a long time writing each post." Use this to avoid wasting time!

There are more tips, but today I've covered what I see as the most critical core principles of Naver Blog marketing. So — what do you think of Naver Blog, the most famous and most challenging of all property SNS marketing channels? If you've never run a blog before, you're probably not eager to start. Honestly, if you're not consistent, Naver Blog will just burn your time. I usually recommend busy property owners focus on simpler SNS channels plus running review campaigns — I rarely push people to start their own Naver Blog.
But if you can invest the effort and time — if you see the potential payoff — if you're consistent and enjoy writing — if you want to share your daily property life with the world — then Naver Blog is hands-down the best promotional tool available. If today's piece sparked your interest or curiosity, study what I've shared here and give blog management a shot!
Next time, we'll dive into another hot property marketing channel — the wildly popular Instagram. Thanks for sticking with this long read. Wishing you a bountiful October!
